Diary of a CEO #6
12/09/2022
Dear Reader,
I hope your week is filled with a lot of joy. I wanted to take a minute to thank you guys for reading the diary last week and for all of you that reached out to me to share about your year, empathize with me, and share advice and stories.
I’m really lucky to be a leader and to have the opportunity to have a community so driven, kind, and compassionate. All of you, the people I’m so blessed to have in my life and work alongside, allow me the space to learn, grow, and change to meet each challenge. I’ve been determining the type of leader I want to be in 2023 and what opportunities I have to develop further.
Last week I reflected on 2022, I spent this week focusing on opportunities for the New Year. Opportunities for both the qualitative and quantitative. Understanding the “low hanging fruit” for the new year is a great way to start illuminating what opportunities you’re starting the year with and what opportunities you have to make for yourself.
To access work opportunities I recommend you do the following;
Look at your favorite projects from the year, think about what you loved about them, how you got those projects, and how repeatable those projects were.
Reach out to everyone who made your year great and 1) Thank them 2) Ask them what they’re doing in 2023 and how you can work together
List how you want to feel in the new year and what opportunities will make you feel that way.
Research people in your field that you admire. If they’ve written a book, read it (with a highlighter), if they are within your network, reach out and ask to connect in the new year. Gain understanding of how they built their career.
After doing those three practices, it’ll get the gears moving in your mind as to what you have to work on in these next few weeks of 2022 to feel prepared for the new year.
Remember to operate in a mindset of abundance, there’s no scarcity of opportunities when you take the time to practice ways to illuminate them.
Have fun with this next week and I hope you enjoy doing all of this as much as I did!
XOXO,
Claire
